"In Achberg ist der hl. Sebastian vom Laserstrahl getroffen.

Magia Catoptrica, Achberg Castle summer 2010, green laser passing a confessional, 24 disco mirror balls, Baroque frame, step motor.

"In Achberg Castle the Saint Sebastian is hit by a laser beam. The statue is situated in a room, which is used as a little chapel. Sebastian is placed opposite the altar. Beside him a laser is positioned, sending its beam to the neighbouring room through a slit of a simple confessionary construction. The artificially aligned light beams pass this needle eye to hit in the darkened neighbour space an agglomeration of mirror balls hanging from the ceiling to be reflected and refracted. […]We are in a catoptric theater which means in a space devoted completely to the art of reflection.

The cubic arrangment of the 24 mirror balls of 10 cm in diameter hangs approximatly at the eye level in the middle of the space on transparent wires. A frame with Barock ornaments beyond the ceiling is used to fix the wired. From time to time a motor gives minimal impulses to one of the balls, so the whole ensemble is moving. We are in a catoptric theater which means in a space devoted completely to the art of reflection."
